In Providence
Providence is the most populated city in Rhode Island. One of the oldest American cities and the state capital, it was name by Roger Williams in 1636 as a means of honoring ‘God’s Merciful Providence’. Today it is a large city and was name as the Creative Capital in the year 2009 as a way to enhance the educational resources and arts community. Schools Schools in Providence make students feel at home. The education offered is to top quality and there are properly trained teachers. Junior, middle and high schools are offered in both public and private domains. Along with nationwide programs Like Connect2Compete, The Attendance Matters campaign and The National School Lunch Program, schools in Providence are proving to be able to keep increasing their already high standards of quality. Most schools are within walking distances and commutation facilities are available, if needed. Dining and Shopping Providence Place Mall provides exciting shopping along with exquisite dining. Wickenden Street and Federal Hill are other places that offer fine dining and shopping needs with a touch of historical importance. There are several other famous restaurants within the city. Entertainment Providence provides a variety of entertainment to cater to the locals and the tourists as well. The Roger Williams Park is famous for wildlife sightseeing. The Providence Place mall serves as a shopping centre and an entertainment centre. Landmarks such as The WaterFire Sculpture provide tourists with a good amount of attractions to visit. Nightlife is offered through a number of pubs, live music and dance. Transportation Both the Bonanza Bus lines as well as Amtrack Bus Lines connect the city of Providence to the East Coast. A local bus system, the RIPTA, provides public transportation within the city of Providence. This system offers comfortable and frequent service. Even bike racks are offered by these buses. Certain schedules and routes are offered for a few dollars. The regular fare is around $1.50 and one can have a day pass for $6.00. This is a very advantageous facility as one can travel in any bus for the entire day after purchasing a simple day pass.
